Reeds from Div 1 turned up to Park Ave with pretty their A side including 1 Quins player and 3 county boys which slightly threw us especially when we discovered their B team were playing elsewhere. This was not be an all squad game. However, on a beautiful day boys served an excellent game of running rugby finally going down 26-27 with Joe missing a very tricky conversion to win it. The first half saw Cats probing but lacking a bit of directness. Owen had a strong game in the pack whilst Ollie R also bashed some big holes and Ciaran was solid at full back but more often than not having broken the game line we turned the ball over and teams like Reeds will punish us if we do not keep hold of the ball. As a result, Reeds scored 3 fine tries with their Quins centre causing havoc with his lines of running and footwork. Turning round 19-0 the boys had a lot to do but playing down the slope they played some exhilarating stuff. Joe James went over after some sustained pressure and then Max M, who was strong all day finished off some good work between Joe and Will H after the forwards had stolen a line out. Suddenly, Reeds seemed a bit rattled and when Will H put Joe through a massive hole the game was definitely on at 24-21. All credit to Reeds they came back strongly and after some excellent goal line defence by Cats Reeds coolly took a drop goal to extend their lead to 27-21 which would be the difference in the end.
Back stormed Cats and it was thrilling to see Tom, not for the first time scorching down the wing to go over in the corner for a great score.

This was a thrilling end to the season and should give the boys confidence for the greater challenges ahead of DIv 1 rugby. Thanks to all the support from the parents , Doug for refereeing and the unstinting work of Tony, Grant,DC, Chris and Blandy. Please look out for the date for the awards ceremony. We have a lot to celebrate and be proud of.
