Wimbledon U15 v Cats U15

Cats travelled over to SW19 with a team which gave a number fringe players a great opportunity to impress and this they did in a keenly fought contest with a very competitive Wimbledon side.

The Cats started well with the ball being moved wide quickly to “Typhoon” Tom who surged down the left wing to dot down in the corner. Cats were buzzing though a few knocks to players took them out of their rhythm and Wimbledon who also played a wide game came back into it with a couple of quick converted scores to leave us 14-5 down. Cats came back again and with Rob, Clarky and Brandon all to the fore the boys scored an excellent try after a superb pick up from Lewis which allowed Luke to go over, once again in the corner. Unfortneately , Wimbledon scored another converted and at 21-10 at half time the boys were up against it. However, in the second half the boys spent most of their time in the opposition half with the pack dominating possession prompted by Felix at 9 (not bad for a second row). Rob rumbled over for two well taken tries which were a just reward for all his hard work in the second row where he was well supported by James. The fit again Nathan tackled tirelessly on the wing and was unlucky not to go over on a couple of occasions whilst Will B enjoying life in the centres also showed touches of class

At 21-20 the game was definitely on but after some late pressure Wimbledon scored with the last play of the game.

It was a great effort to get 18 lads out and play a well contested game in tricky conditions. Thanks to all the parents for their support. It is a shame there is a no game this week as E.Grinstead have to to play a re-arranged league game.
