Cats hosted Farnham (also in our league) for a non-league match. Cats were looking to put their marker down prior to the league clash on 6th March. We had our usual squad minus a few injuries but luckily welcomed two new players Josh and Ben to our ranks.

Farnham kicked off and the ball was well taken by Josh who ran strongly into Farnham’s half. The ball was well recycled through the forwards before Conor made a good run and scored under the posts, converted by Tom. Cats 7 – 0 Farnham. From the kick off Farnham regained the ball and attacked into Cats 22 however following a good tackle, lose the ball in the ruck and Rory comes away with it. Rory makes ground before passing to Josh who is unstoppable and scores under the posts, converted by Tom. Cats 14 – 0 Farnham. Farnham restart with a hanging kick which is well taken by Will Morris who charges into the Farnham half before being tackled. Cats win the ensuing maul and the ball is passed along to Rory who scores in the corner, unconverted. Cats 19 -0 Farnham. Conor takes the ball from the restart and charges upfield before passing to Aaron on his shoulder who makes ground to the Farnham 22 before being tackled. Farnham win the ball in the ruck and attack down the blind side before a strong tackle from Jack forces the ball loose. George picks up and gets to within a metre of the line but is well held up, as is Conor and Tom before the ball is fed to Josh who scores wide on the left hand side, unconverted. Cats 24 – 0 Farnham. .............Try Cats, unconverted. Cats 29 – 0 Farnham. From the kick off the ball is taken by Josh who feeds Conor in the tackle then onto Rory and finally Will Mac who touches down near the side line, unconverted and at half time Cats lead 34 0 Farnham.

Cats kick off to start the second half and following good pressure on the Farnham receiver recover the ball and launch an attack through the forwards. Rory passes the ball to Gordon who makes a good run before off-loading to Will Mac who scores another good try, unconverted. Cats 39 – 0 Farnham. Farnham’s restart does not go 10 but is picked up by Josh who scores near the posts, converted by Rory. Cats 46 – 0 Farnham. Again Farnham fail to make 10 from the kick off and Cats opt for a scrum on half way. A good hook by Toby and Josh picks up at the back and runs through for another try, converted by Rory. Cats 53 – 0 Farnham. Farnham are not giving up and continue to attack Cats. Following sustained pressure they win good ball inside Cats half and run it down the tram lines for a good score in the corner, unconverted. Cats 53 – 5 Farnham. This fires Cats up and from the kick off the reclaim the ball and following good interplay between backs and forwards, Will Mac finishes off a flowing move in the corner, with an excellent side line conversion by Rory. Cats 60 – 5 Farnham. Again Cats apply pressure from the restart with another good run by Will Morris. The ball will not come out from the tackle so Farnham awarded the scrum on the half way. However a superb piece of hooking by Toby sees him take the tight head and Aaron, filling in at No. 8, picks up the ball and charges straight up the middle to score under the posts, unconverted and the final whistle blows with the score Cats 65 – 5 Farnham.
.

An excellent dress rehearsal for the upcoming league match on 6th March and once again Cats showed commitment and focus in wearing down and defeating a good opponent. All the players put their hands up and there were several standout performances but ultimately for his driving play and all round commitment the player of the day award went to newcomer Josh.
