Old Cats U14s came out on top against Warlingham U14s in a great exhibition of Youth Rugby at Hill Fields on Sunday. Old Cats remain unbeaten at home this season!
With the error count very low from both teams, Old Cats held a 7-5 lead at half time. Cats’ try was scored by centre David from a run starting inside his own half off the back of a strong scrum. David converted his own try.
The game remained close in the 2nd half with both sides’ defences being tested, with excellent tackling and rucking skills on display. Old Cats stretched their lead to 17-5 following two driving tries from Charlie and Harrison.
In a frenetic end to the match Warlingham scored a try and had a chance to draw level at the end but a turnover allowed Charlie to kick into touch.
After a burger the players of the match, Sam and Leo from Old Cats and Isaac and Seb from Warlingham, enjoyed the Twix challenge (with Ryan acting as a ‘brace replacement’ for Sam!).
Thanks to Warlingham for visiting and for all supporters who came out to cheer on both teams - on to finals day!
